How We Pick Products
Last updated: 2026.
Every item on this site — in the listicles, the quiz boards, the outfit builder and the shop page — goes through the same four-step screen. This page exists because "we only recommend what we love" is easy to say and this is how we prove it.
The four checks
- It reads Y2K. If the piece doesn't clearly fit one of our five style archetypes, it doesn't make the catalog.
- It's recreateable. We only pick pieces a normal person can style with what they already own — no one-off runway items.
- It's findable. The item must be available from a retailer we can link to directly (usually Amazon). If we can't link it, we don't feature it.
- It's honest to describe. We describe what the piece is, not what we wish it were. No invented discounts, no fake urgency.
What commissions change
Nothing. We pick items first, then apply our affiliate codes to the links. We earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you — that's how the site stays free. Full details on the affiliate disclosure page.
