Privacy Policy

Y2K Outfit Ideas is built to be useful without being nosy. The quiz and outfit builder work without an account. Advertising and linked retailers have their own data practices, described below.
What data we collect
- Cookieless analytics (optional): if enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible counts page views with no cookies and no personal identifiers.
- On your device: your quiz result and saved outfits stay in your browser storage.
- Pinterest referral counts: a Pinterest campaign and Pin code can stay in the current browser tab for up to four hours. We count visits from those links and clicks to Amazon so we can see which Pins help people find outfits. The report stores daily totals and public campaign codes without visitor IDs or IP addresses.
- Email (optional): if you choose to sign up, your email address and, when you sign up from a quiz result, your style archetype.
- Ad networks: when ads are enabled, the ad network (Adsterra) may collect data under its own privacy policy to serve and measure ads.
Why we collect it
- Analytics: to know which pages help people (and fix the ones that don't).
- localStorage: to personalize the site for you (your archetype badge, "For you" recommendations).
- Email: only to send the style-profile and roundup emails you asked for.
How long it's kept
- Email: until you unsubscribe (one click in every email) or ask us to delete it.
- localStorage: until you clear your browser data. Deleting the "y2k-" keys in your browser removes everything.
How to request deletion
Email hello@y2koutfitideas.com with "privacy request" in the subject. We delete your email address from our list and confirm within 3 business days. Device-local data (quiz result, saved looks) is already yours to delete — just clear your browser's site data.
Third parties
- Amazon Associates: product links open Amazon, whose own privacy policy applies there. Purchases through our links may earn us a commission.
- Adsterra: display ads, when enabled and allowed by you — see Adsterra’s privacy policy for ad-related data.
- Pinterest: we use the Pinterest API only to publish our own pins. It is never used to track or identify visitors.
- Porkbun: hosts the site using cPanel hosting and may process server access logs, including IP addresses, for operation and security.
- Email provider: stores your email address solely for sending the emails you opted into.
CCPA / GDPR (the short version)
If you are in California or the EU, you have the right to know what personal data we hold (such as an email address or hosting logs), to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of further emails at any time. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with anyone, ever. You can decline advertising using the ad preferences control. Third-party ads load only after you choose to allow them; ad providers may use cookies or other identifiers under their own policies.
